Here’s an update to our previous story about the wild bison allowed to roam outside of Yellowstone.
It would appear that the bison have been a little too wild for some people’s liking. On Monday, department of livestock personnel shot one of the 25 bison after trying to get it to return to Gallatin National Forest. All this trying to prevent the disease brucellosis showing up in cattle. According to Yellowstone Insider, “a bison has never been found to transmit the disease to any cattle.”
Private groups an government agencies are spending more than $3 million to establish a corridor for the winter migration outside of Yellowstone.
Perhaps the first course of action could be to find out if the disease is actually communicable between bison and cattle?
