On Thursday, The North Face announced a commitment to stopping climate change through partnering with Business for Innovative Climate & Energy Policy (BICEP), as well as supporting 350.org, the international campaign dedicated to inspiring “the world to rise to the challenge of the climate crisis.” In addition to these partnerships, The North Face urges their consumers to do the same.
Steve Rendle, president of TNF says that, “strong climate change policy is necessary to affect real and meaningful change.” The effects of climate change can be seen across the globe–just last week The Guardian published an article about how the common house fly is now being spotted at the Everest base camp. TNF is hoping these partnerships with organizations looking for solutions to climate change will make an impact in the marketplace, and encourage consumers to do the same.
Rendle also stressed that the smallest efforts can make a difference, encouraging “everyone to make personal changes that can contribute to helping the climate such as carpooling, turning off lights when not in use, drive energy-efficient vehicles, and walking to work.”
TNF has been working on their own efforts as well, developing four areas of focus:
- Reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
- Designing and innovating sustainable product.
- Eliminating waste in operations.
- Inspiring employees, customers & communities to Live the Brand.
