For Washington residents, time is running out to take action and let legislation know that important Department of Natural Resources lands like Mount Si and Lake Spokane need to be included in the final budget negotiations. Currently, as many as 20 areas in Washington State could soon face closure if legislation does not find a way to continue to fund them.
We first wrote about this issue in January when the possible closure of some of the states most popular hiking areas were announced. With this year’s legislative session coming to a close this week, it’s more important than ever to let representatives know we want to keep these places open.
Washington Trails Association has compiled a list of Representatives that are directly related to the House and Senate Fiscal Committees.
“House delegation includes Representatives Linville, Darneille, Takko, Ericks or Sullivan, please make a call. Likewise if your Senator is Margarita Prentice, Rodney Tom or Karen Fraser.”
