Pre-OR Coverage: Beat the cold with the Talus ColdAvenger

Today marks the start of the 2010 Outdoor Retailer Winter Market and the All Mountain Demo. We’ll be hitting the tradeshow floor tomorrow but here’s a sneak peak of another cool product we’re looking forward to learning more about. Talus Outdoor will be showcasing their ColdAvenger expedition balaclava.

More than a traditional balaclava, the ColdAvenger has a ventilation mouthpiece that serves four purposes:

  • provides thermal warmth
  • eases breathing
  • controls moisture on the face
  • humidifies inhaled cold air

Designed and developed in the Northern Rocky Mountains, the ColdAvenger is perfect for backcountry expeditions, snowsports, and prolonged periods outdoors in cold temperatures down to -20ºF. Made with a durable softshell material or soft microfleece, the mask has been tested to keep temperatures inside the mask 40 to 60 degrees warmer than the outside air temperature. The comfort of warm air on long expeditions in frigid environments can make a huge difference–not to mention it can help protect airways from damage caused by chronic exposure to cold air. The best part? Caring for the ColdAvenger is simple as it can be hand washed with water and the same soap you use to wash clothes.
