It was a long beer filled week, but OR Summer Market 2009 has finally come to a close. I met quite a few people from the outdoor industry and have quite a few articles lined up for the next couple months. Keep your eyes open for our fall and spring gear guides with reviews of the new products coming out. Another of the planned articles is covering some of the green products the industry is coming out with. Here are some of the products we saw on the last day of the show:
Brunton has some really neat solar arrays coming out in the spring. There are a variety of models, but most of them have a built in battery and use a standard USB port to charge your devices. This way you can have the array hooked to your pack during the day and recharge your electronics at night. From the samples I saw, they look pretty rugged and should be quite handy for those that like to bring an iPod on their backpacking trips.
Ecousable has an interesting take on the standard stainless steel water bottle. This company has combined the standard water bottle with a large water filter that according to the company, can filter out nearly everything in the water. This way you can get clean water anywhere with a water source. The company says the filters last anywhere from 100 to 750 gallons and are easily replaceable.
Eureka has introduced a new take on the traditional A-Frame tent with their new SQ series tents. The company claims their design allows 24% more interior room than the standard A-Frame design. The Forte SQ 2 can be configured to be as light as 4 pounds. With an MSRP of $129.99, it isn’t expensive either.
