In a move to make Delaware the 50th state to have a National Park Service unit, Delaware congressmen plan to introduce legislation that would establish a new national park. However, the proposed park wouldn’t boast majestic vistas or hidden beach coves; instead, it will be a “history-themed” park.
With a base in New Castle and several satellite locations throughout the state, topics would include European settlements and the state’s history as the first state to ratify the Constitution.
The proposed bill boasts bipartisan support, and Senator Tom Carper says the plan would only need a few million dollars to be able to open in 2011.
