Review: Saucony Radius Transition Half-Zip top

Though Saucony is best known for their running shoes, the company also has an extensive line of apparel for men and women. While the pieces are designed with running in mind, quite a few styles work well for layering on day hikes. The Radius Transition top for women is one of these styles.

The high-tech waffle knit fabric breathes and provides moisture control and flat seams help to reduce chafing during high intensity workouts or hikes. The top also has some very welcome features if the primary usage is for running–accents of high visibility fabric for safer road running and a small zipper pocket at the hip for securing your house keys and an ID.

For running, this has been a great top for days when it’s not quite warm enough to sport short sleeves but a running jacket would be overkill. And on hikes, the Radius Transition top performs well as a mid-layer, as the waffle-weave-like fabric traps warm air but still breathes at the same time. Overall, this lightweight top has become one of my go-to items of clothing for outdoor adventures.

Available in a few different colorways, the Radius Transition Half-Zip top retails for $50.
