Climbers and archeologists team up to find relics
Locals near a system of caves in north central Nepal have reportedly seen pages of manuscripts fluttering in the wind. What does this have to do with climbers, you might ask? Until recently, the caves were inaccessible due to their location, on a cliff wall, 700 feet up.
Outdoor Gear Shop Heist in the UK
Today’s bit of news comes from Pickering, in the UK. Last Friday, thieves tunneled into a local outdoor gear store, Trailblazer Outdoor, in the early morning hours of November 13th.
Boeing Supports Mount Rainier National Park
On Monday of this week, the Boeing Company Charitable Trust presented Washington’s National Park Fund with a check for $75,000. This grant will be used to fund projects that will help the park move towards a goal of being carbon neutral by 2016.
No Child Left Inside Act
We recently learned about H.R. 2054, better known as the No Child Left Inside Act of 2009. The bill was introduced to the House of Representatives in April of this year by Rep. John Sarbanes (D-Md.) and is seeking to increase the environmental literacy of the nation’s children. In recent years, environmental education has been severely lacking in K-12 education as public schools devote more class time to subjects included in aptitude testing (and their test results).
